Counselling Kinesiology in Black Rock & Chelsea
A body-based approach to understanding stress, emotions and the patterns that keep us stuck
Sometimes we know exactly what we should be doing, but something still seems to get in the way.
We might understand why we react a certain way, recognise the patterns we keep repeating, or know that we need to make a change — yet our emotional response doesn't always follow what we logically know.
This is where I find kinesiology can be incredibly helpful.
At Feel it to Heal it, I offer Kinesiology and Counselling Kinesiology from my clinics in Black Rock and Chelsea, Melbourne. My approach combines conversation, self-reflection and practical strategies with body-based kinesiology techniques to help you better understand what may be sitting underneath stress, emotional reactions and recurring patterns.
You don't need to be familiar with kinesiology, and you definitely don't need to be "spiritual" for it to be useful.
I often describe myself as halfway hippy — I love understanding the psychology behind why we think, feel and behave the way we do, while also recognising that sometimes talking alone doesn't give us the whole picture.
What is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is a complementary therapy that uses gentle muscle testing as a form of biofeedback.
During a session, muscle testing can be used alongside conversation to explore areas of stress and help guide the direction of the session.
Rather than trying to analyse everything consciously, kinesiology gives us another way to explore what may be contributing to the way you are feeling.
Depending on what comes up, I may incorporate techniques such as acupressure, breathwork, tapping, mindfulness, guided visualisation, affirmations, sound or other stress-reduction techniques.
Every session is different because every person is different.
Kinesiology + Counselling
This is where my approach is a little different.
I am both a qualified Counsellor and Kinesiologist, which means sessions can incorporate counselling, kinesiology or a combination of both.
For some people, talking is exactly what they need.
For others, they understand their situation intellectually but still notice strong emotional or physical reactions that are difficult to shift.
And sometimes we need both.
Counselling gives us an opportunity to explore thoughts, behaviours, relationships and patterns, while kinesiology offers a body-based way of exploring stress and emotional responses.
My role isn't to tell you what is wrong with you or what you should do. It is to help you become curious about yourself, understand your patterns and develop practical ways of responding differently.

What happens in a Kinesiology session?
We begin each session with a conversation about what is currently happening for you, what you would like support with, and what you hope to gain from our time together.
Depending on what your goal is, we may spend time exploring your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and relationship patterns through counselling and talk therapy. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment theory, strengths-based and solution-focused approaches, as well as psychoeducation around emotional and nervous system regulation.
From there, we may move onto the treatment table, where you remain fully clothed. I use gentle muscle response testing as a form of biofeedback to help guide the kinesiology component of the session and explore areas of stress or imbalance.
Every session is individual. Depending on what arises, kinesiology techniques may include acupressure, breathwork, sound and colour therapy, essential oils, flower essences, affirmations, guided visualisation, nutrition-based considerations and other stress-reduction techniques.
For me, kinesiology isn't about replacing conversation or counselling. It provides another way of exploring what may be happening beneath our conscious understanding — particularly when we intellectually understand a pattern but continue to find ourselves reacting in the same way.
We finish the session by bringing together what we have explored and discussing any insights, practical strategies or actions you feel willing and able to take into your everyday life. This might include communication strategies, boundaries, journalling, nervous system regulation, behavioural changes or other home reinforcements.
The number and frequency of appointments varies from person to person and depends on what you would like to work on. We can discuss this together during your initial appointment, with the aim of creating an approach that feels appropriate and achievable for you.
