Intuition or Fear? Know the difference between them.

Is it Fear or Intuition?

When we’re facing change or uncertainty, it can be challenging to tell the difference between fear and our intuition (our inner knowing). Both can feel strong, but they come from very different places.

This morning I came across a reel from Dr. Gabor Maté that felt so timely for me, as I’m currently navigating a potential big change myself. The key difference to note is the charge behind our fears.

It's easy when we are in a fear state to loop around in our thoughts and create more fear as we spiral down deep. It takes a great deal of practice, but it is absolutely worth it, to learn how to pull ourselves out of these negative loops and centre ourselves in what is within our control.

We are certainty seeking beings and one of the greatest causes of suffering in our lives is the fact that certainty is an illusion. What is certain is change. We must work on our ability to adapt to change if we wish to regulate to uncertain times.

So how do we distinguish between our intuition and our fears?

Put simply:

  • Intuition feels like a calm, quiet, grounded knowing. It’s a gentle wave of guidance that carries no emotional charge.

  • Fear, on the other hand, comes with an emotional charge. It’s often triggered by the mind’s narratives. It may start as a single thought, which sparks a physical reaction in the body, then quickly loops into “evidence gathering” — searching for proof that reinforces our fears. This strengthens the perception and heightens our emotional reactivity.

Fear feeds itself. Intuition doesn’t need to.

This is where kinesiology can be so powerful.

In our sessions, we work to:

  • Separate the mind’s thoughts from our true perceptions.

  • Gently dismantle the evidence-seeking that fuels emotional distress.

  • Seek out evidence for the opposite — the possibility that things can turn out well.

  • Bring the body into a responsive, non-reactive state.

  • Practice the art of releasing control.

Control is, after all, an illusion of the mind. The more tightly we try to grasp it, the more our nervous system suffers. Learning to trust the body’s wisdom and quiet the mind’s noise creates space for your intuition to shine through.

If you’re feeling stuck in fear, uncertainty, or looping thoughts, kinesiology can help you find that grounded, calm knowing again — so your next step comes from alignment,

not anxiety.

With Gratitude,

Julz.
